Church authority

The Church authority is the person or body which must give effect to the substance of any recommendation of the Board or Review Board for action against a Church worker and must publish their decision of that recommendation and the action taken.

For clergy, whether in active ministry or retired, it will generally be the Archbishop.

For lay people in a parish, the Church authority will generally be the Vicar because the Vicar has the authority to appoint lay people to roles in the parish: s29.  It can also be the Diocesan Corporation.
